Complimenti.Trip Advisor Member
Great stay - cannot wait to be back!
Just returned after a fabulous week at Casale Villarena and missing it already! The stunning house with views that make you stop and look each time, lies in the unspoiled village of Nerano (short and beautiful drive from the bustling Positano and Amalfi). Here you can hear the clock chimes of the church bell marking the hour and observe the smiling old Italian ladies going about their daily business... Guglielmo's evident passion for food, wine, hospitality as well as his unmistakable Italian warmth and kindness makes you feel like you are at home and at a five star hotel (better in fact!!) at the same time! The in-house restaurant serves absolutely delicious food - you are asked what you would like to eat every night instead of being give a menu - how absolutely wonderful is that! I should also mention that I purchased multiple jars and bottles of the homemade jams, limoncello and lemon olive oil... Big mention to the wonderful Mariateresa (Guglielmo's right hand) - who is absolutely delightful, warm, super efficient - thank you, you star! My usual feeling after being somewhere new even after it's been great is where next, but this time, I genuinely cannot wait to return to this little piece of heaven...Until next time!Cvetanka & Henry Campbell-Smith
A Unique experience
Excellent, spacious accommodation Wonderful location overlooking the sea in a quiet picturesque village Unbelievable hospitality, form the initial greeting by the proprietor at the entrance gate to the hugs on leaving- the staff could not do enough for us! And the food! Remarkable, did not see a menu all week, local seafood in abundance with local calabrian wine and home made bread - too much!Mike and Mary Bedford
Faire Preise. Da würde ich gerne wieder einmal vorbeigehen.Dominik
Warm welcome and great atmosphere
Perfect combination of home-feeling and great service. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Delicious food in their home-restaurant! We rented a flat with two bedrooms and kitchen. Perfect as a base for daytrips in the area; hiking, Amalfi- and Sorrento coast, boattrips, Capri, Pompeii ++.Trip Advisor Member
Wonderful Service and Friendly Staff
We visited Casale Villarena in late October this year. We are very well traveled and can truly say that the hospitality experienced at Casale Villarena is exceptional. The staff are there at every turn to offer assistance, guidance and advice. The rooms are clean and comfortable with lovely views and the outdoor space is lovely. The highlight was the wonderful restaurant, food and wine. Every evening we were served something fresh and homemade. The pasta and seafood were lovely! Our 4 year old daughter enjoyed every meal and still talks about the lovely spaghetti. The experience as Casale Villarena was an authentic Italian holiday, almost like visiting a very good friend.Kim, Taps & Anna
The best of the best!!!
I was a flight attendant for over 42 years and have traveled all over the world, staying in hundreds of places. This was a place, very high on my list, a diamond in the ruff. The staff was so warm and helpfull. The place was immaculate. Very, warm and homey. A great location, near Marina del Cantone, for doing any boat trips. Away from the touristy areas, living "with the locals" feel. William, the owner, was the best. He treated us as family, and helped us to enjoy the area, with new suggestions, each day. He organized a boat trip to see the "amafai" coast. It truely was one of the best days of my life, and I have seen much, over the years. He made us a very special "local" dinner after our 8 hr. day tour. He had many other tour to offer, plus wine tasting in his wine cellar. I left feeling I had made new Itailian friends. I would return in a heartbeat. It is not that easy to access, but I'm sure William will help with that.Becky
Truly special place to stay
We had a truly wonderful holiday at Casale Villarena in September this year. We stayed in one of the beautiful apartments, La Rotunda. The pictures on the website don’t show just how lovely the apartment is -very comfortable with plenty of space, there is a beautiful and recently renovated bathroom. Our own balcony had a beautiful view of the sea and the islands with space for a table and chairs so we could sit and relax there. The apartment was cleaned to sparkling level several times while we were there and our towels changed. We cooked for ourselves a few nights but the restaurant at the Casale is wonderful so we often ate there. The setting is lovely – the restaurant is on a terrace below the apartments and overlooking the sea and the headland. The service and the food were excellent – we sometimes had a full meal, other times we just felt like pasta or shared one of the amazing antipasti dishes as well. I have to have a gluten free diet and had emailed the Casale beforehand to check this was OK. In fact nothing was too much trouble and I was able to eat the most delicious gluten free food at all times. Breakfast in the terrace restaurant is included in the price of the rental and this was also lovely with a huge range of food and for me, always gluten free bread, toast, crackers available. Friday night is pizza night at the restaurant and I have never had such delicious gluten free pizzas and focaccia nor has my husband ever been asked what he would like for his second pizza – we ate there two consecutive Fridays but made sure to eat very little during the day the second time… Nerano was an excellent base for our holiday. It took a week to get used to the driving – the roads are very winding and quite narrow – and the Nastro Azurro sights are spectacular but very, very crowded. We had taken walking boots and enjoyed walking the Sentiero degli Dei above Positano far more than driving there. (We had a delicious lunch in the Trattoria Santa Croce in Nocelle, perched above Positano with spectacular views.) Walking to (and swimming in) the beautiful Bay of Ieranto was also well worth the effort but it is a stiff climb. Pompeii and Vesuvius are only an hour’s drive away. In our second week we found that we wanted to keep exploring the Nastro Verde – the roads to the West of Nerano with fabulous views of Capri and Vesuvius but with unspoilt and uncrowded villages and tiny towns to visit. The little resort of Marina del Cantone directly below Nerano is a lovely place and we spent many happy hours there, either relaxing on the sunbeds, walking round the headland or eating amazing ice creams in a little café next to the jetty. Some days we simply spent lazing around the grounds of the Casale, there is a swimming pool, sunloungers, beautiful and very well kept gardens and the amazing views. We will definitely return to Casale Villarena – the wonderful host and all his fabulous staff have made a truly special place to stay.Jill Sharp
